Are You One?

For purposes of this website and the associated list, we are willing to believe that you are a Gardnerian if you sincerely believe you are one, that is, that you have valid initiation. On the other hand, since our main purpose is discussion and research, you don't really have to be Gardnerian to be on the list, as long as your posts are polite, sensible, and interesting to others, or at least not disruptive.

I also use another definition of "Gardnerian" All Witches are Gardnerian, in the sense that it all started with Gardner.  There were people around before Gardner who called themselves Witches, but objectively they belonged to a different religion. Some Witches are still more like Gardner than others are; so one of our topics of discussion is where to draw logical boundaries in defining GArdnerianism, Wicca, Witchcraft, and so on.

Welcome to Gardnerians All!

This is the website for the Gardnerians_All list on Yahoogroups. It is currently under construction. Some essays have already been posted. Please check back frequently to see what major structures we have erected and how the landscaping is going.

This website, like the list, is for discussion of Gardnerianism and Wicca. For our purposes here, we are defining a Gardnerian as anyone who can trace a valid lineage back to Gardner along any path and who identifies with the Gardnerian community. The trick word here is "valid," but that in itself is a topic for discussion.

As currently planned, the essays to be posted will be primarily by Lady Delia Morgan and by Rick Johnson, as well as a few by myself (Aidan Kelly). If others post messages to the list that I like as well as Rick's and Delia's, I'll ask permission to include them also. It's not that I necessarily agree with all of Rick and Delia's opinions--as you will see, I will be including some pieces where they take issue with me--but I admire the logic of their arguments.
